Food Review: Taco Bell’s Cheesy Core Burrito

Hello dearies!

Cheese lovers will definitely be delighted as Taco Bell Philippines releases their latest offering – The Cheesy Core Burrito.

I was invited by #Certified Bloggers last February 16, 2017 and together with other food and lifestyle bloggers we are able to sample first this cheesy goodness. The event was held at one of Taco Bell’s newly opened branch in Quezon City – the Cyberpark Tower. It was the first Taco Bell branch that has a second floor and DQ booth (Hooray for tacos and ice cream). 😁

The Cheesy Core Burrito is the first burrito with a melted cheese center. The “core”is made of red nacho strips smothered with Taco Bell’s signature three cheese blend and nacho cheese sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla surrounded by seasoned beef, Mexican rice, cool sour cream and red sauce wrapped into a burrito. Imagine a mini cheese burrito stuffed inside a classic Taco Bell burrito – are you salivating yet?

Obligatory foodie selfie! 😁

The Cheesy Core Burrito is priced at Php 139 for ala carte and Php 179 if you pair it with your favorite nachos and soda.

Visit any Taco Bell branch now and experience #TacoBellPHL cheesy goodness! For more information on the Cheesy Core Buritto, you may visit their website at http://www.tacobell.com.ph or follow their social media sites as follows:

Hello dearies!

You are in for an exciting Christmas treat as Dairy Queen Philippines launch their holiday offering that will satisfy your sweet tooth cravings! Your favorite DQ soft serve gets a colorful twist with the launch of the Blizzard of the Month: M&M’s Red and Green.

To introduce the new holiday flavors, Dairy Queen held an exclusive event last November 16, 2016 at the Oasis – the first and only air-conditioned, open-air floating garden restaurant located at the Gateway Mall in Araneta Center, Cubao. Me and fellow lifestyle bloggers graced the event.

I was lucky to be part of this fun and exciting event as I get the first dibs on the cool mouth-watering treats. I get to try first the three flavors of the M&M’s Blizzard.

Blizzard heaven! 🙂

Double Fudge M&M’s Blizzard. Made with signature DQ soft serve and pieces of M&M’s topped with swirls of cocoa fudge. I am a chocolate lover and this satisfy my chocolate fix.

Strawberry Banana. If you are on the healthy side this one is perfect for you. Made with creamy DQ soft serve and M&M’s mixed with strawberry coating.

Pistachio. This is a must try! A yummy combination of creamy DQ soft serve and M&M’s blended with pistachio coating.

All the three variants are available in mini (P 59), regular (P79), medium (P99) and large (P119) sizes. The M&M’s Blizzard are served upside down (or it’s free!) in Christmas cups starting November 15, 2016 until January 16, 2017 in all participating DQ stores.

Other Dairy Queen favorites are getting a holiday makeover for the whole month of December!

The classic Dilly Bar is now comes in a Christmas Tree shape with red or green drizzle on top, selling for only P39.

Spread some Christmas joy and love with the Santa Reindeer Ice Cream Cake. The same well-loved vanilla flavored ice cream cake with chocolate fudge filling topped with Christmas-themed decor is available for only P749 at participating DQ stores.

Here are some of the photos of the event:

Foodie Review: San Juan Finds – 7 Flavors Buffet by Chef Boy Logro

Hello dearies!

They say we Filipinos love to eat. I find this saying true because we are immensely passionate when it comes to food. We love to sample different dishes and cuisines coming from varying countries. Aside from that, most celebrated occasions will never be complete without bonding over food.

Today I will be reviewing a restaurant that offers sumptuous buffet dishes at an affordable price. 7 Flavors Buffet Restaurant started its operations last May 13, 2015. It is co-owned by the famous celebrity chef, Chef Boy Logro. Inside you will find an A la Carte cafe and bakery (first floor) and World Fusion Buffet at the second floor.

The buffet area has a nice, cozy vibe. It can house up to 150 guests. The buffet food area is very simple when it comes to its presentation because they wanted their patrons to focus more on the food. VIP rooms are offered to families and larger number of people who want to celebrate privately without the extra charges. One of the distinct feature of the restaurant is their big parking space which can accommodate 30 cars. Valet parking service is also available for free.

The name of the restaurant is based on the 7 basic tastes of food which are: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, umami and astringent. Me and my fellow bloggers were curious on how the astringent flavor tastes like. According to Mr.Albert Borja II (Chief Operating Officer of 7 Flavors), it is somewhat stronger and mentholated like a mouthwash.

When it comes to the dishes, 7 Flavors serve both Filipino and international fusion cuisines. They serve 12 to 13 varieties of dishes everyday. To prevent the “sawa” and “umay” factor they make sure to change their menus every day.

Here are some of the dishes I tried:

Yummy appetizers and palate cleansers. My favorite would be the soft-shelled tacos in which you can customize it depending on your preference. I also like their nachos. Different salad recipes are also served for those healthy eaters.

They do serve a variety of desserts ranging from Filipino kakanin to cupcakes. If you crave for something refreshing like Halo-Halo they do have one.

Their flavourful thin crust pizzas are the bomb.

I can’t get enough of their California Maki.

Roast Beef Station.

Creamy penne pasta for the pasta lovers.

The best bagoong rice I’ve tasted! You can actually eat this on its own. It compliments with almost all of the dishes served.

Vegetable dish Chopsuey.

Creamy Korean Salmon Head.

Mixed Breaded Seafood with Garlic Mayo Sauce. Crispy breaded seafood goes well with slightly salty and tangy mayo.

Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy Sauce.

Hawaiian Beef Stew.

Creamy Chicken Parmigiana.

Pork Tonkatsu.

Pork barbeque.

They also let us taste their drinks. I ordered their Matcha Latte because you know me, I am a Matcha lover. 😁

Over all I will give 7 Flavors a 3.5/5 rating. If you are looking for a buffet restaurant that offers good and affordable food with a relaxing, home-like atmosphere and a service that is not compromised then you should try 7 Flavors!

Me and fellow bloggers. Thank you 7 Flavors for inviting me!

Food Review: French Fine Dining Experience at Le Jardin

image

Hello dearies!

Paris is known for their aesthetically beautiful structures, rich culture, posh fashion styles, exquisite cuisines and picturesque view. I always dreamed of travelling to Paris when I was a kid and have my photo taken at the Eiffel Tower. Today I will be sharing with you my foodie experience in a restaurant that will make you experience the Parisian life without the airfare.

French Chef Gils Brault, the mind behind the successful Trois Gourmands in Vietnam created Le Jardin Manila. With the help of Chef Hasset Go and Chef Jonas Ng, Filipinos can now experience authentic French Cuisine. All the dishes they served were made from scratch. From the spices to desserts, all are imported from France.

image

Me having a photo-op.

As you walk inside the restaurant, you can instantly feel the Parisian vibe. The decorations are upscale designed. The interiors remind me of a local Parisian cafe that I’ve seen in movies.

Degustation Menu served at the event.

We started the meal with a serving of fresh-baked brioche with butter on the side. Their brioche is tender inside and crunchy on top.

image

Saumon Fume Maison (House Smoked Salmon).

Thin slices of smoked salmon topped with greens, peanuts and lentils. The salmon tastes fresh and the lemon adds some zesty flavor into it.

Two of the palate cleansers served. First, is made from tomatoes, salmon bits and basil. The second one is my favorite which is the lemon sorbet with orange zest. It has this citrusy burst of flavour in my mouth.

Filet mignon de porc (Tenderloin of pork)

Cheese Platter.

They made their own cheese platter from scratch. They used 7 different types of cheese that has a variety of flavors perfect to munch after a hearty meal. Goes well with wine.

Classic Chocolate Cake.

This heavenly dessert is superb. The rich moist cake melts in your mouth.

Price range is on the upscale side. The 3-course meal is priced at 2200, 4-course meal is 2800 and the 5-course meal is 3200.

You can visit them at the Penthouse level of the W Building, Fifth Avenue corner 32nd Street Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Visit their website or call +63 917 8176584 for reservations.

Update: Le Jardin Manila in W Building sadly closed its doors but they are relocated at Bonifacio Stopover Corporate Center, 2nd Ave, Taguig, Metro Manila. Named as Le Jardin Cafe, they are now serving more affordable hearty French breakfast.

Experience Luxurious Feast this Chinese New Year at Oriental Palace

image

Hello dearies!

The Philippines’ population consists of almost 4 million Tsinoys (Filipino-Chinese) which makes Chinese New Year as one of the most celebrated occasions.

I described Chinese New Year celebration here in the Philippines as colorful, festive and fun. Red is the primary color that you will see on the streets as it connotes good luck and prosperity. The highlight of the celebration would be the dragon and lion dance which believed to cast away bad luck. My favorite part of the celebration is no other than — food (giggles). Chinese people served luscious meal on their table which they believed to bring good fortune. Some basic staples were sticky rice, whole fish and roasted chicken.

image

Today I will be reviewing a restaurant that is perfect to dine with your family this coming Chinese New Year.

Last January 22, 2016, I was invited by Oriental Palace as they reveal their lucky dishes for 2016. Oriental Palace is not a noob in the restaurant industry. They started in the restaurant business in 1978. Owned by Chua family, the restaurant traces its roots to Wah Yuen (Chinese Garden) a small noodle and dim sum shop across the Love Bus in Escolta.

image
Oriental Palace at night.

It may look small outside but the place can accommodate up to 800 persons. They have different function halls and rooms as well as hot pot area which is soon to open 24/7.

image

image

image

The owner is very hands-on in the restaurant operation. Mr. Henry Chua, the father of the Operations Manager Mr. Chester Chua, usually wakes up early to buy the freshest ingredients in the market. He wants to make sure that everything is new and fresh to maintain the good standards and authenticity of the recipes.

image
Some live seafoods.

image

The dishes that they served was part of their Chinese New Year menu. These dishes were believed to bring abundance, prosperity and good fortune. This was based on the study of Feng Shui Expert Mr. Johnson Chua. This was sponsored by Hennessy V.S.O.P.

image
Hennessy V.S.O.P

I can’t wait to share with you guys the delicious dishes so let’s start. 🙂

image
Asado and Polo Pao. I love their Polo Pao. It actually tasted like the one in Tim Ho Wan. The crust is crispy yet soft to the bite. The filling is appealing as well.

image
Steamed Live Rock Lobster with Garlic. I love dishes with garlic flavour. I just love how garlic makes the dishes taste more flavourful. You can tell that the lobster used is indeed fresh. The meat is sweet and tender and when mixed with garlic it creates a savory taste. Thumbs up!

image
Steamed Live Twin Lapu-Lapu. This dish has a balance of flavour. The fish meat is so tasty and it melts in your mouth.

image
Whole Suckling Pig. One of their best seller is the whole suckling pig. No wonder why because it really tasted good. Because it is roasted to perfection the skin is super crispy and the meat is juicy.

image
Whole Sea Cucumber with Australian Abalone. It was my first time to taste sea cucumber and I actually liked it. It was cooked perfectly because it did not taste nor smell fishy. I actually thought it was kare-kare because it kinda tasted like one.

image
Steamed Crab with Sticky Rice. This is my favorite among the dishes. Fresh crab seasoned with fine spices steamed on top of sticky rice. The sticky rice absorbed the flavour of the crab. I can actually eat the rice on its own.

image
Fried Juicy Pigeon. The pigeon used in this dish was kinda small but despite of that it tasted good. The meat is chewy and juicy.

image
Whole Dried Scallop with Sea Moss. The scallops were soft and easy to chew. Combined with the sea moss it creates a burst of unique taste which I love. Another thumbs up!

image
Fresh Green Mango Shake. I choose this drink because I love green mango. It also acts like a palate cleanser because of its tangy taste.

Over all I will recommend you to try Oriental Palace because they serve great tasting dishes. Price is kinda steep but it is all worth it because all the ingredients used were fresh.

Thank you Oriental Palace for inviting me! 🙂

Barkin’ Blends Dog Café: A Dog Lovers Haven ♡

Hello dearies!

Today I will be sharing with you my not so latest foodie adventure. This is not like those cafés that I reviewed from the past but I will tell you this place is worth visiting especially if you are like me — erhm a dog lover :).

image
Barkin’ Blends Dog Café is the first dog café established here in the Philippines. Their aim is to provide a better connection between dogs and humans. As they say “We want to enhance everyone and every dogs lives”. Interaction with dogs or pets in general is therapeutic. Studies shows that it improves the over all well being of an individual.

image
Can’t you see I am excited?! 🙂 *giggles*

The café is divided into two zones: the human and the dog zone. Human Zone is the area where in food is served. They offer different kind of pastas, sandwiches, cute pupcakes and refreshing drinks.

image
Pupcakes galore. 🙂

image
This pasta dish is super yummy. The pasta is cooked al dente and I like the creamy white sauce. Sorry I forgot the name of the dish.

Here are the other photos:

image

image

image

image

To be able to enter at the Dog Zone you need to pay Php 190 which is inclusive of one drink. You can choose from espresso, traditional tea, Café Americano, milk or fruit tea. You may also opt for a rock salt and cheese, macchiato, latte or even frappes with an additional fee. After paying you will be requested to sign a waiver and a ticket to the dog zone will be given to you.

image
Dog Zone ticket. One ticket per person is allowed. You can stay inside the Dog Zone for two hours.

image
The cute barkin’ buddies. ♡

As you enter the Dog Zone the friendly staffs will brief you about the do’s and dont’s inside the zone. Do not fret because all dogs inside were vaccinated.

Before entering you need to sanitized your hands. This is to prevent inflicting the dogs with bacteria. Next you need to change your foot wear. Don’t worry slippers were provided. The staff will ask you to place your things inside the locker. The locker has no key so make sure you get your important belongings.

Now let’s meet the cute and cuddly barkin’ buddies:

Some cute dog portraits.

Yuki and Ewok. Do not fight guys. 🙂

Sleeping Skye the Husky. Bleh :-P.

Pretty Martha. She’s an Irish Setter.

With Smile the Pug. She’s so adorable and cuddly. She is my favorite among the dogs.

image
With Bubbles the Dalmatian.

image
With sleeping Vader the Lhasa Apso.

image
With the twins Marley and Finn. ♡

It was a nice experience for me bonding with these cuddly dogs. I honestly felt relaxed after playing with the dogs. The concept of a dog café is unique. It also teaches those who want to get a dog about responsible pet ownership. I have three dogs at home and I enjoyed taking care of them. It was difficult but worth it because the love and happiness they give in return is price less. ♡

If you want to experience Barkin’ Blends Cafe they are at the

image
We started the foodie meet-up with this tasty Wanton soup (PHP 120).

image

image
Hakaw PHP 80. The best hakaw I’ve tasted so far. You can actually see and taste the big prawn inside.

image
Lemon Chicken PHP 150. My favorite dish of Wai Ying. The chicken is cooked perfectly crispy and the meat is juicy. The lemon sauce has a sweet and tangy taste that makes the chicken flavour come out. Thumbs up for this dish.

image
Lemon Iced Tea PHP 55. It has real lemon slices that is so refreshing.

image
Japanese Siomai PHP 80. It is a so so dish for me.

image
Siomai PHP 70. It has an ample amount of pork and shrimp meat. Every bite is delectable.

image
Shark’s Fin Dumpling PHP 75. One word to describe this dish – Mouthwatering.

image
Asado Roll PHP 80. I can eat the bun itself because it is super moist and soft. The meat filling is delish and it goes well with the bun.

image
Sweet and Sour Pork PHP 140. Another favorite dish of mine. The meat is tender and juicy and the sweet, tangy flavour is there.

image
Curry Beef Brisket PHP 140. Their version of curry beef is way lighter. If you do not like the taste of strong curry I am sure you will like this dish. Worth trying indeed.

image
Hot Salad Roll PHP 75. This dish is something new to my taste buds. I like it though.

image
Fish Fillet in Creamy Sauce PHP 150. Their fish fillet is also a winner. You have the option to choose your sauce. I like the sweet and sour than this one. This will be a sure hit among kids who love something creamy.

image
Soy Chicken PHP 145. Tender and juicy chicken in soy sauce topped with green onions. It goes well with the ginger sauce. A must try dish.

image
Yang Chow Fried Rice. Their yang chow is meaty, heavy and flavourful. I can eat this alone.

Foodie Review: Casaño Italian Fusion – Where Good Food and Music Meets ♡

image

Hello dearies!

I love to explore newly opened restaurants. My usual foodie destination would be along Manila, Makati and Quezon City. Last September 29, 2015 I was invited by Ms. Elaine Taningco of Zomato Philippines in their Foodie Meet Up. It was held at San Roque in Marikina City. It was far from my usual foodie destinations but I know it is worth trying because of the good reviews that I have read.

image

The name Casaño came from the names of the three owners namely Carlos, Salcedo and Abaño. According to Mr. Brian the restaurant used to be an ancestral home with a dental clinic in the 1940s. His grandfather fell in love with the place and bought it. Then with two of his friends they decided to convert it into a restaurant. Casaño Italian Fusion is merely new in the restaurant business but despite of that they make delicious dishes.

image Some old wines.

image I love these pieces of art. Old vinyl records were used in these portraits. Oh Hi Ed! 🙂

image Bring back the old days where in turntables were used to play good music. Yes in Casaño you will get to hear good quality music while you are eating good food. They have wide selections of vinyl records from old to new. Some of the LPs were bought directly from the States.

I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The rustic yet cozy theme is something unique.

Here are the dishes that we tried at Casaño:

image Cucumber Lemonade Php 70. We started with this super light refreshing drink.

image Baked Ham Croquettes Php 100. Smoked ham wrapped in béchamel sauce then fried to golden crisp. Who would thought that the filling is not cheese but béchamel sauce, super creamy indeed. I can finish a whole order of this dish by myself. 🙂

image Aglio e Olio Php 210. Spaghetti pasta topped with oil based sauce rich in garlic and shrimps. This dish is a winner for me. I love garlic and for me this dish satisfies my garlic craving. Another plus point is this dish is not oily and the pasta is cooked al dente. Thumbs up for me.

image Chicken Arrabbiata in Rigatoni Pasta Php 210. Rigatoni pasta cooked al dente topped with spicy arrabbiata sauce. The chicken meat is juicy and flavourful however I just wish they made this dish a bit more spicy because I did not taste any spice in this dish.

image Cannelloni Php 210. An Italian dish made with baked tubular pasta then topped with lots of cheese. Casaño’s version of this dish uses spinach and cheese. Cheese lovers out there will love this dish for sure. It is creamy but not in the “nakakaumay” level.

image Herb Crusted Salmon Php 350. This dish is also a winner for me. The salmon is crispy and yet moist inside. I did not taste any “lansa” in this dish. Goes well with the lemon butter sauce. Another thumbs up! 🙂

image Roast Pepper Beef Php290. Tender slices of beef sirloin marinated in choice of herbs and spices. The meat is juicy but it lacks a kick of pepper flavour.

image Apple Strudel à la mode Php 140. We had this as dessert. Puffed pastry stuffed with their signature apple mèlange served hot with vanilla ice cream. The bread part is soft and flaky which I like. The mix of cold and hot makes this sweet dish a sure hit.

I will give Casaño Italian Fusion a rating of 4/5. The place is beautiful perfect for weekend family bonding. They also serve good food at an affordable price. I enjoyed my stay at Casaño and I will definitely visit them again and try their other pasta dishes and burgers.

Thank you Zomato Philippines and Casaño Italian Fusion for inviting me! 🙂

Foodie Review: Filipino Comfort Food at its Finest at Full Belly Craft Kitchen

image

Hello dearies!

There are days where in you want to stay at home, sleep all day and eat your favorite comfort food. Eating comfort food makes you feel more positive by alleviating negative feelings of stress and anxiety.

image

Add me on Zomato www.zomato.com/dutchfairyph

Today I will be reviewing a restaurant that serves what we crave for – Filipino Comfort Food. Full Belly Craft Kitchen is situated along Sgt. Esguerra in Quezon City (at the back of GMA Network Center). Owned by Chef Allan Qua and Kenneth Flavier, they come up with the concept to serve all kinds of sumptuous belly dishes like salmon, tuna, pork, bangus and beef with a twist.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

It may look small outside but this two-storey restaurant can cater around 150 persons. The restaurant has a homey, rustic vibe perfect for family lunch out and gatherings. I love the vintage decorations which makes this place more unique.

Me and my fellow bloggers tried most of their best sellers. Excited to know what we ate? Scroll down for more.

image

Freshly baked home made pandesal. Their pandesal is really good. You can eat alone or with butter. It is soft and chewy.

image Bacon Spinach and Cheese Frittata Php 195. Baked eggs with cheddar, maple bacon and spinach served with toast. This is perfect for people who do not want to eat something heavy in the morning. Perfect to pair with their home made pandesal.

image Home Made Spanish Sardines Php 245. They used bangus belly in their sardines, cooked in olive oil and special spices. It is served with two eggs (in any style) and garlic rice. This dish is good enough to be shared by two. Their spanish sardines reminds me of my lola who also cooked this dish. The garlic rice balances this dish.

image Full Belly Tapa Php 250. Grilled belly of beef topped with garlic, served with two eggs and garlic rice. Filipinos on the go loves to eat this rice meal because it is packed with good carbohydrates that will keep you going through out the day.

image Baked Mussels Php 245. Chilean mussels topped with smoked Mornay sauce, bacon bits and truffle oil with mash potato at the bottom. This luscious dish is a winner for those who love seafood (ahem like me). Eating this made me full already.

image Bagnet Enselada Php 210. Mustard leaves, onions and tomatoes topped with their special bagnet drizzled with salad sauce. This dish is a healthy way to eat your bagnet.

image Bagnet Ni Kenneth Php 320. Chef Kenneth’s own version of Ilocos bagnet. Served with pickled mustard and pinoy vinegar dip. What makes his bagnet different? The method of preparation is different. Instead of dipping it in oil and double frying it. The oil is poured on top which makes the pork skin popped and super crispy. The meat is soft and juicy making you ask for a cup of rice.

image Wing Bean in Coconut Cream Php 195. Sigarilyas cooked in coconut cream topped with homemade chicharon. I am not a fan of sigarilyas because I find it rough when chewed but this dish made me want to eat it. The coconut cream with a hint of spice tastes so good.

image Curried Beef Belly Php 350. Beef belly served with roasted vegetables. This is their version of binagoongan. I like this dish because it has a mixed and balance of flavour. It is not that salty nor sweet. It has a little of spice that is tolerable. Perfect to eat with rice.

image 12 Hour Beef Belly Roast Php 650. This dish is cooked to perfection. They used slow roast method to cook the meat then served with Au Jus, roasted vegetables and potato pureè. The meat is so tender like it is melting in your mouth.
image Tuna Al Ajillo Php 285. Grilled tuna belly topped with lots of garlic. For those who watch their weight but still want to give in to their cravings this dish is for you. The succulent tuna belly will make you forget you are on a diet. 😛

image Baked Cheesecake Php 195. New York style cheesecake topped with home made bacon jam. At first I was like cheesecake with bacon jam? But I will tell you it taste good. The creamy cheesecake goes well with the semi sweet and tangy bacon jam.

image Trio of Panna Cotta Php 180. Coconut, green tea and malt chocolate flavored panna cotta. The green tea panna cotta is a winner for me because it has the unique taste of matcha. The other two flavors are also good.

Dutchfairyph Rating:
I will give Full Belly Craft Kitchen a 4.5/5 rating for the good food at an affordable price. It is a perfect place to dine and share stories with families and friends. Visit Fully Belly now and try their super yummy dishes!
